Privacy Policy
Nora (“we”, “us”) is an AI reading companion provided as a Chrome extension and related API. This policy explains what data we process and why.
1. Information we collect
- Account data: email address, password hash, verification codes, Pro status.
- Usage data: daily action counts used for free-tier limits.
- Content you send for AI features: selected text, page excerpts, or questions you submit for summarize / translate / explain / rewrite / chat.
- Payment data: handled by Stripe. We store Stripe customer/subscription identifiers, not full card numbers.
- Technical logs: basic request logs for reliability and abuse prevention.
2. How we use information
- Provide AI reading features you request
- Authenticate accounts and enforce free/Pro limits
- Process subscriptions and prevent abuse
- Improve reliability and diagnose failures
3. AI providers
To generate responses, we send the content you submit to our configured LLM provider (for example DeepSeek or another OpenAI-compatible API). Do not submit secrets or sensitive personal data you do not want processed by those providers.
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with processors needed to run Nora (LLM provider, email delivery such as Resend, payment processor Stripe) under their respective terms.
5. Retention
Account and billing identifiers are kept while your account is active. Verification codes expire quickly. Operational logs are retained only as long as needed for security and debugging.
6. Your choices
- You can sign out from the extension at any time.
- You can delete your account from the Nora side panel (Account → Delete account).
- Pro users can manage or cancel billing via the Stripe customer portal.
7. Children
Nora is not directed to children under 13.
